Who We Are

Foundation for Cancer Care is a registered non-profit organization, established in 2008 by a group of individuals who were interested in enhancing cancer care in West Africa.  The organization was registered as Foundation for Cancer Care in West Africa (FCCWA) to reflect the organization’s broader vision of fostering collaborative cancer control and prevention throughout the West African sub-region. The foundation’s core objectives were to stimulate the development of broad partnerships between oncology professionals, private enterprise, and academic institutions, locally and internationally to enhance cancer care and prevention and to establish a clinical facility to provide quality cancer care.

The establishment of Lakeshore Cancer Center, Nigeria’s 1st operational private clinical care facility solely dedicated to cancer care and prevention, in 2015, signified the fulfillment of one of Foundation for Cancer Care’s core objectives. When Lakeshore opened its doors for operation, Foundation for Cancer Care proudly provided sister support to all Lakeshore’s activities centred in the promotion of cancer awareness, screening and prevention, cancer patient advocacy and capacity building measures for health practitioners.
